- Being one who has used the telephone at the office, a fair bit,
I became frustrated that although I could look in the telephone book at the map,
or associated listing, pick out a place, and determine the area code –
there was no easy index going the other way;
converting a telephone number [from a missed-call memo] to a location.
This became especially troublesome when wondering if the location to be called was to the East
(and thus probably no one would be in the office if a call were made late in the day),
or to the West (and not to be called first thing in the morning).
This index is an effort to resolve that.
- One listing, sorted by Country-Code, gives the corresponding country,
and the associated offset from UTC to ‘local’ time.
- Since the North-American Country-Code spans several time lunes,
there is another listing with corresponding breakdown by area-code.
- Additional listings, for other wide countries, are pending.

As a mechanical engineer, I get to trouble-shoot many things;
some built by others, some being built by my colleagues and myself.
Partly in frustration with the apparent ineptness of others, partly to analyse some of my successes,
I wrote a Guide to Troubleshooting.

Using the spread-sheet calculator of OpenOffice.Org,
I have prepared a ‘universal’ calendar.
Enter the offset from the current year, or enter the year in question, and the dates will be shown.
